AN INTERNATIONAL STEP UP

In the heart of Los Angeles, seven talented dancers from wildly different backgrounds collide in a world where passion and ambition mean survival. Malik, a rebellious street dancer from London, is determined to escape his father’s shadow. Destiny, a single mother from Chicago, is fighting to create a better life for her daughter against all odds. Kimmie, a fiercely talented dancer from Seoul, longs to break free from her father’s oppressive control. Serena, a Bollywood dreamer from Calcutta, is driven by her hope of transcending poverty. Mykola, a stoic Ukrainian breakdancer, channels his pain into every move he makes. Laura, a ballroom dancer from Paris with a painful past, is on a journey of self-reclamation. And Chachi, a tech-savvy Texan with a quick wit and killer moves, holds the group together, determined to make their dream a reality.

Their journey takes them to The Get Up and Dance Studio, the most elite dance studio in the world, where only the best train, and the stakes couldn’t be higher. Here, in this prestigious but cutthroat environment, the group must overcome jealousy, deep-seated traumas, and brutal rivalries to prove they have what it takes to win the "Get Up and Dance" championship—a competition with life-changing stakes and the power to launch them into the professional dance world. But as they push themselves harder than ever, they uncover dangerous secrets in the industry, face threats from those who want to control them, and discover that sometimes the people closest to you are also fighting battles you never imagined.

Danger looms when Jackson, a sleezy talent agent claiming to scout talent for a music video, arrives at the studio. Unbeknownst to the dancers, Jackson is being paid off by the human traffickers to identify vulnerable women. The dancers forge deep bonds—kicking ass with jaw-dropping choreography, laughing through the challenges of their run-down hostel, and standing together against the odds. Destiny and Malik’s connection heats up, while Mykola and Serena can’t ignore the growing pull between them.

Until everything unravels—Laura is abducted by a group of human traffickers led by Owen, the sleazy hostel landlord. As the crew realizes the place is rigged with hidden cameras and none of them are safe, they stumble upon Serena, unconscious from a brutal blow to the head, narrowly escaping abduction herself. It’s a chilling wake-up call that pushes them to contact the police. Meanwhile, Chachi, the tech genius, dives into Owen’s computer and uncovers a vast human trafficking ring targeting young women, bound for the Texas border.

LAPD Detectives Ramirez and Carter tell the crew they must leave the hostel to stay safe. The crew makes a bold decision to head to Texas and help to rescue Laura. However, they quickly realize they lack the funds to make the trip. Desperate, Malik turns to his father for financial support, but his request is coldly denied Determined not to give up, the group turns to their TikTok account, @Unite, using their platform to not only raise the necessary funds but also to spread awareness about human trafficking. The outpouring of support is overwhelming, and soon enough, they’ve raised the money they need. The crew piles into a van and heads to Texas, with Chachi uncovering a vital lead: Owen is operating out of BL Saloon, a line-dancing bar in El Paso. They follow the police to the bar, nerves on edge as they approach the heart of Owen's operation.

Upon entering BL Saloon, the LA crew is met with skeptical looks and playful jabs from the locals, who are quick to challenge their style. Unfazed, the crew decides to show them what they’ve got, sparking an impromptu dance-off—country versus hip hop. The bar erupts into a whirlwind of movement, with each side bringing their best to the floor. As the night goes on, the competition fades into a full-blown dance party, where the lines between city and country blur. Mutual respect grows as both sides. Destiny is then snatched by the traffickers and taken to the hideout where the other girls are being held captive.

As the SWAT team moves in, the rescue operation intensifies. Amid the chaos, Destiny steps in to protect a young girl and is struck by a bullet, caught in the crossfire between traffickers and law enforcement. Despite the danger, Laura and the other 20 girls are rescued. Owen is killed in the crossfire, and the trafficking network is finally dismantled. Jackson, the duplicitous talent agent, is exposed and arrested, bringing an end to the criminal operation. Malik’s father contributes to bring Destiny’s daughter and mother to Los Angeles to live. The crew wins the World of Dance championship money and contributes it to Polaris a charity that helps victims of human trafficking.

This is more than a dance movie. It’s a story of resilience, found family, and the unbreakable human spirit. The film pulses with electric, high-stakes dance sequences  "Get Up and Dance" is more than a story about training with the best dancers in the world—it’s about reclaiming power in the face of exploitation, forging unbreakable bonds, and refusing to back down. The film will be a visceral, heart-pounding journey reminding audiences that...
